Qualities of a First Aider

1. Responsible - As a first aider, you need to be responsible to every decisions and actions you do. 

2. Sociable - This means being approachable. You can easily establish rapport to your patient if the patient is comfortable the way you interact with them. You can also provide due care to the one's in need when someone don't have hesitation to tell you. 

3. Honest - A first aider needs to be honest. Honest in taking good care and safety of the patients belongings, telling the real condition of the patient to the proper authorities and even being honest to tell that you don't know how to perform certain procedures. 

4. Emotionally Stable - A rescuer knows how to control emotion not allowing it to interfere with decision making. When the emotion is stable, a rescuer can think clearly what to do. 

5. Good Physical condition - A rescuer must be physically fit to carry procedures such as patient transport, lifting and others. 

6. Knows his/her limitation - A rescuer must assess one's self how far he/she know about first aid and should not perform something she/he is not familiar or trained. 

7. Humble - A rescuer needs to be humble at all times. Remember that aside from you, there are still others who knew better than you. 

 

8. Observance of confidentiality - A rescuer must know how to keep a secret, secret.
