1. Safety of patient, first aider and bystanders

2. Gain access to the patient 

3. Assess the patient to determine possible life threatening problems 

4. Provide care based on assessment findings 

5. Alert additional first aider or EMS when necessary

6. Assist other first aider

7. Act as liaison with other public safety workers 

8. Assist and perform patient packaging and preparation for movement and transport.
