What is First Aid?

If you've observed, accidents happen everywhere. May it be on roads, construction sites, factories, sports events and even at the comforts of our home. Even how careful we are, there are times where our loved ones become the victim of accidents or worst, we ourselves.  Therefore it is an advantage that every "Juan" needs to know some basic procedures on first aid.

First Aid is an emergency care given to anyone who is hurt or sick suddenly while waiting for an ambulance or before the patient reach a health care facility.

It is a pre - hospital care or treatment that aims to manage the condition of the victim or patient and prevent it from getting worse. Since it involves life, the administration of first aid procedures is governed by some principles, duties and responsibilities as well as legal aspect to make sure that both the first aider/rescuer and the patient are protected.

In a group of first aider or rescuer, there must be clear division of work in order to make rescue or first aid procedures smooth. A team must have the following:

FIRST AIDER

A first aider is the person with direct contact to the victim. he/she is the one who administer all essential first aid procedures.

LOGISTICS

A logistics is the one taking charge of the medical kit. He/She needs to master where the equipment and materials are placed inside the medical kit when the first aider needs or asked for it.

RECORDER

As the name suggest, a recorder is the one who obtain records of the patient such as the name, address age and other important data needed. The recorder is also the one who documents the procedure done to the patient.

CROWD CONTROLLER

Crowd controllers are responsible for keeping the crowd away from the victim. They are also responsible of making way so that the recorder, logistics and first aider will gain access to the patient.
